What is it?
A hardcover informational book with Augmented Reality (AR) features.
Who is it by?
Published by Scholastic.
What is it about?
This book introduces the Transformers to readers, from the history (how the war erupted between the Autobots and the Decepticons), to the various Autobot and Decepticon characters and their features, and even Autobot allies.
There are some pictures and information, but the selling point of this book is the AR feature. You need to download the free Transformers AR Guide app for Apple or Android phone first. Then follow the instructions to use it.
Through the app, you will be able to see an Autobot or Decepticon in 3D appear in the pages of the book. It can be enlarged (goes right up to your ceiling) or shrunk (just a few inches) and converted from robot to car and vice versa. It can also move around!
While still in the app, you can take photos of the Autobot/Decepticon in your room. This is a really cool feature. The images can then be emailed.
You can also build your own Transformer in the app.
What can children learn from it?
They can learn about the wonders of AR! Information about Transformers apart, the AR really is the most awesome aspect of this book.
What did I like about it?
The AR of course! Although I have to say I struggled a bit with the AR on some pages – sometimes nothing appeared and at other times it took longer for the transformer to appear.
Where to get it?
