If he looks familiar, it’s because he has appeared in TV commercials, and The Z Tornado on Astro Xiao Tai Yang. Plus, he is now on Club Mickey Mouse.

Mousketeer Gabriel, full name Gabriel Noel Pountney, has in fact been in a few productions for Astro Xiao Tai Yang.

He says:

I really enjoy all the acting I do. It’s always fun to meet new people and learn new things, and as a Mouseketeer, we get to meet a cool local celebrity on each episode of Club Mickey Mouse and learn from him or her, which is so inspiring to us.

I hope one day I’ll be able to be a name people can remember, like how everyone knows Michael Jackson or Jackie Chan. My favourite actor is Ryan Gosling, because he can sing, act and dance! And he was a former Mouseketeer too, which is very inspiring to me. He’s also been in a lot of my favourite movies as well.

I’ve always dreamed of working with Disney. I’m a huge fan. I grew up watching Disney films andwhen I heard that Disney Channel was looking for Malaysia’s first group of Mouseketeers to host Club Mickey Mouse, I knew this was just too good an opportunity to miss. It’s a dream come true.

I think it’s just really cool to be able to say I’m part of Malaysia’s first group of Mouseketeers. Also, it’s Disney and Club Mickey Mouse was first created by Walt Disney himself in the 1950s. Sure, acting, singing and dancing are all tough, but I have a true passion for it, and I firmly believe that you should work hard to achieve your dreams. To now be in the same ‘club’ as Ryan Gosling, Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake and Christina Aguilera is unbelievable. They are some of my role models, and I aspire to reach the same level as them. I’ll work hard to achieve that!

One of my biggest achievements was learning how to ride a bicycle! Sounds dumb, sure. But hey, everyone’s got their own achievements right?

Lots of things inspire me! For instance, striving to become the best there is; the feeling of achieving something motivates me to do better. Here’s something I learned: No matter what you do, there’s always room for improvement; find someone who’s 10 times better than you and use them as a role model. Once you reach their level, aim for someone even better and keep going until you become an inspiration for somebody else.”

* Club Mickey Mouse is on Astro (Disney, channel 615) every Friday at 1.30pm.
